Upside-Down and Reverse Text Generator

Reverse changes character order within each line. Upside-down also substitutes available turned shapes. Approximate mirror uses a limited set of reflected-looking characters. It is not a true horizontal reflection of every glyph.

Up to 500 characters (complete graphemes), with an 8000 code-unit safety cap.

Three modes, three different operations

Exact reverse example: Ab → bA. With the same input, upside-down produces q∀ and approximate mirror produces dA. Reverse keeps the original characters; the other two modes change supported shapes as well as reversing their order.

  • Reverse order: useful when you want the last grapheme first without changing its shape.
  • Upside-down approximation: substitutes turned-looking ASCII letters and punctuation where a mapping exists.
  • Approximate mirror: swaps mapped pairs such as b/d and p/q and uses a few reflected-looking substitutions. Unmapped characters keep their original shapes.

Line breaks stay in their original order

The tool reverses each line separately. It does not move the bottom line to the top. Accented graphemes and emoji sequences move as whole units rather than being split into their component code points. Their internal marks and joiners are retained; unsupported shapes are not rotated.

Copy the intended mode, not a visual promise

Type a short sample, compare all three outputs and copy the labelled result you actually want. The input limit is 500 complete graphemes and 8000 code units. A denied copy action selects the result for manual copying. For an exact visual reflection of arbitrary lettering, use an image or layout transformation instead of character substitution.

Unicode’s display guidance explains that font support can have gaps. Check uncommon turned characters in the receiving field. Do not assume a familiar-looking shape is the same underlying letter as your original text.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is reverse text the same as mirror text?

No. Reversing only changes order. This page’s mirror mode also substitutes a limited set of reflected-looking characters, but is explicitly approximate.

Will a family emoji be taken apart?

With grapheme segmentation available, the emoji sequence is moved as one unit. Its internal joiners and modifiers are preserved.

Does upside-down mode rotate a whole paragraph?

No. It reverses and substitutes characters within each line. It preserves the order of the lines and does not rotate an image of the paragraph.
